A cat I work with at UPS is a musician, a drummer matter a fact. In his car is pure gospel CDs except for one which is Common Finding Forever. I ask him if he ever heard of Lupe Fiasco which he hadn't. He was interested in what Mos Def was doing. I then asked him bout Nas and Estelle and he got open so I said I would make him a CD.
I usually just compile a playlist and burn it but for the sake of hip-hop I, did this mix-tape. More time I just do the comps because doing a tracked mix tape can be a pregnant poodle. GarageBand drive me up 4 walls. Through God's grace and my diligence I was able to figure out Audacity where I recorded a file and labeled the sections where the songs segued and then exported them as mp3s. NICE.
I'm a big advocate for Serato so this is the first mixtape I ever made using the 1 turntable/reverse input functionality. Lots a youth in my crew use Serato, but dem nuh know dem style ya. It ain't really nuttin 2 it, but you may feel like you going against the rules of turntablism. It takes skill and practice and in the future will save you money on acquiring a second turntable or servicing the one thats dead. That necessity led me to figure how to make this work.
This mix is going out to everybody who still love hip-hop even though mad ish has changed in the music, the business, the culture and the tolerance.
Off the dome I always big up Daz who does his thing on the podCastes and no beg no apology from nuh bwoy. Tomas the original nuffist. The Greatest DJ of All - High Plain Drifter AKA Jackie Knock Shot
That is the first cut and I titled the mix after what my man Rich outta VA used to say about this favorite chune from the pioneer of originality Jackie KnackShot. Those who may not know of him might remember the KRS One song where he goes "Suicide this is Suicide", in the begining of that song he impersonates Jackie's famous intro from the Jammy$ dubplates he used to spark. This mix reprsents what I love and miss about dancehall --the illness-madness-buggedoutness. They still carry on mad but back in the diddays y'all who know know what I'm sayin becah me nah say nuttin. Big up Umoja staff, Mona Lisa, Richie Criss, 4 gun Daz BlackaRanks, Tomas P-Dope, yes Positive Rhythm, KPL, Deadly Dragon, Scheme Team and my little ni@@ Naz who reminds me that raggamuffin are born and rudeBoys are made. In other words me and InI youth are original from stem ZEEN?
